Challenge:

The owner of Karen's Dance Academy came to me with some very specific requirements in mind.  She not only needed a site redesign but also needed a photo gallery that you didn't need to sign up for an account to view, a calendar that could be easily updated as well as some consistency with her design.

Process:

I had Karen send me some links to websites she liked so I could get a better idea of what she was looking for.  I then created some wireframes and mock ups of some designs so we could figure out one she liked.  While we were in the process of choosing designs I was doing research on calendars that would be easy for her to update (and by easy I mean no coding involved) from any computer as well as a photo gallery which she could host on her site and update from anywhere.  I ended up choosing Gallery2 to use as her photo gallery because it was easy to implement on her server and made uploading a simple process.  After much thought and research I decided that embedding a Google calendar (and using an advanced style sheet implementation to customize the colors) would be a quick and easy way for her to keep her students up to date on the class schedules. I finished Karen's Dance Academy's redesign in about 2 months.  Her new site is live and you can check it out at KarensDanceAcademy.org. I have included some wireframes and mock ups that you can check out.
